For Design Week RD 2023, Bastrij Studios collaborated with Marmotech to create a motion graphics animation exploring the origins of the Dominican folkloric figure, Diablo Cojuelo. This short film was an homage to the raw materials and craftsmanship featured in Marmotech’s showcased sculpture.
Emulating the organic feel of charcoal drawings, we developed handcrafted textures for the charcoal, paper, and colors. This approach mirrored the authenticity of the raw materials used in the sculpture, grounding the animation in the tactile world of Marmotech’s creations. The result was a visually arresting piece that brought history and folklore to life while seamlessly aligning with the aesthetic and spirit of Design Week RD.
